Summer Conclave
DeMolays from across the state met in Galveston for the annual conclave to compete in ritual and athletics. George Pandzik, the fearless Master Councilor, lead an ambitions group of members from the Chapter. The first couple of days the chapter was busy with athletics and won several trophies in basketball, volleyball, and tennis. The highlight of the athletic competitions came when the Chapter's ÒshortÓ stop, Cody Murphy, made a spectacular catch in the final inning to recapture the softball championship. Ritually, the Chapter continues to improve winning several individual trophies and winning second place in the Initiatory degree ceremony. Douglas van Griner continued Albert Pike's strong political presence by being installed as the Texas State Illustrious Master Councilor. Amy Gonzalez was not to be out done. She captured the spot of Texas State Priory Queen. Also, the Chapter Advisor, Jay McCracken, was honored with the Guild of the Leather Apron Award for being selected as the outstanding advisor of the year in Texas. Congratulations to each of them for their accomplishments.

The only mishap of the weekend came when veteran conclaver and past Master Councilor, Brandon Marshall, managed to lock his roommates out of their room by falling asleep with his earphones on. Fortunately, with the assistance of the hotel manager and a long pole, the sleepy Brother was awakened and his disgrutled roommates were able to get their much needed sleep.

State Master Councilor's Retreat

This year's State Master Councilor's Retreat will be held the weekend of November 17-19, at the recently renovated Greene Family Camp in Bruceville, Texas. This is an excellent event for Councilors and for those who would like to be a councilor in the future. The retreat concentrates on building leadership qualities needed to run a chapter and, of course, having fun. This year will be packed with even more exciting activities including additional athletic competitions. There will also be a Jobs Daughter's Rally there during the same weekend. The fee for the retreat will be $60 which includes a T-shirt, four meals, and free lodging. The State Master Councilor's Retreat is where you'll find Òtomorrow's leaders today.Ó Visit the website, contact the Chapter Advisor, or contact one of the Councilors to find out how to register or for more information.
