Bruceville
The 2nd Annual Texas Masonic Youth Weekend took place on April
23-25, 1999 at the Greene Family Camp in Bruceville, Texas.
This event, which is sponsored by the Grand Lodge of Texas,
brings together all three youth groups for a weekend of fun
and fellowship.
This was the second year of the youth weekend, and by judging
from attendance seemed to be a great success. Representatives
from all of the Youth Groups were there. DeMolays, Rainbows
and Jobs Daughters gathered to share ideas that would
mutually improve each organization. All participants were
divided into separate focus groups and given a topic to debate
and discuss. Some topics included Masonry, your perceptions,
or Cyber Chapters, Bethels and Assemblies; How can we use
the Internet to branch to other areas. At the end of the weekend,
each group had to come with a group presentation to explain
their ideas to the other groups. We had talk shows to testimonials.
No matter what idea was used, everyone got the message.
In addition, we had some special guest speakers, who came
to give an inspirational message to each one of us. Dad Alan
Cassalou, an advisor from Northern California DeMolay, attended
this years weekend. He said, "this is the first
time I have attended an event like this." He was so impressed
that he is going back to California with renewed determination.
He wants to start an event similar to ours in California.
Also, Dad Cassalou gave a presentation and led the adult session.
He wanted to stress that it is very important to motivate
each other. We are part of three great organizations and it
is our job to let every one know.
While working, we always have a great time. It would not be
a Masonic Youth Event without a dance. In fact, we had two
dances one on Friday night and the other on Saturday evening.
Also, those attending had an opportunity to play sports, to
go swimming or to just hang out by the lake. Saturday afternoon,
several people got together to have a softball game.
Make plans to attend next years Masonic Youth Weekend
in April 2000, Im sure that it is going to be even better
that this years.
