HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF
ALAMO de AZTLAN TEOCALLI

Alamo de Aztlan Teocalli No. 1836, San Antonio, Texas, exists by Virtue of a Charter granted under date of October 9, 1999, by the Supreme Teocalli, Order of Quetzalcoatl, See of North America, from which body it derives all its powers and privileges. The jurisdiction of Teocalli No. 1836 shall be the same as the jurisdiction of Alzafar Temple, A,A.O.N.M.S., San Antonio, Texas.

The initial organizational meeting of Alamo de Aztlan Teocalli No. 1836 in San Antonio, Texas, was held on Monday, July 26, 1999, in the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge Room in the Scottish Rite Cathedral in downtown San Antonio, Texas, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Master Artisan Reese L. Harrison, Jr., Past Potentate of Alzafar Shrine Temple for the year 1979. The meeting was called by Master Artisans of the Order: Reese L. Harrison, Jr., James W. Todd and Robert L. Jett, all Past Potentates of Alzafar Shrine Temple, and Past Presidents of San Antonio Chapter No. 98 Cabiri International Past Potentates’ Association. Master Artisans Reese L. Harrison, Jr., and James W. Todd were Past Directors of San Antonio Court No. 60, Royal Order of Jesters and Master Artisan Robert L. Jett was the Leading Man of San Antonio Court No. 60 Royal Order of Jesters and would become the Director of San Antonio Court No. 60 for the year 2000.

Master Artisans Reese L. Harrison, Jr., James W. Todd and Robert L. Jett announced that all Shriners present had been invited to become Charter Members of a subordinate Teocalli of the Order of Quetzalcoatl. The Charter Members had been selected for two reasons: First, all those selected to be Charter Members had rendered outstanding, conspicuous and unselfish service to their Shrine Temple in particular, and to Shrinedom in general. All those selected had been recognized by their respective Shrine Temples for their accomplishments. They had also demonstrated that they were able to attend sideboard with dignity and always be gentlemen and were well regarded in the community. All of those selected had projected a positive image about men and Freemasons for the good of Shrinedom and the Order of Quetzalcoatl. The second reason why those present had been invited to be Charter Members of a subordinate Teocalli of the Order of Quetzalcoatl was because they were friends of Master Artisans Reese L. Harrison, Jr., James W. Todd and Robert L. Jett and that each of them were persons that these three Master Artisans enjoyed being with in fraternal communication.

It was resolved that a Teocalli be established within the jurisdiction of Alzafar Shrine Temple, that the name and number adopted be Alamo de Aztlan Teocalli No. 1836, that there be a membership limit of 100 active members, and that no more than 12 new members be initiated annually.

Dr. Terrance E. McGuire, Imperial Outer Guard of the Shrine of North America, Past Potentate of Alzafar Shrine Temple, Past Director of San Antonio Court No. 60 Royal Order of Jesters and Past President of San Antonio Chapter No. 98 Cabiri International Past Potentates’ Association was elected unanimously as the first Camaxtli.
